About
Phillip

Phillip Broussard is a Los Angeles–based recording engineer, mixer, and producer with decades of experience working at the highest levels of the music industry. He began his career in the early 1990s in Austin, Texas, learning the craft hands-on in regional studios before moving on to major-label work in New Orleans at Daniel Lanois’ Kingsway Studio, where he deepened his understanding of analog recording, signal flow, and performance-driven production.

Phillip later relocated to California, where he worked at studios including O’Henry, Teatro, Sound City, and The Steakhouse Studio. During this time, he became closely affiliated with Rick Rubin’s creative camp, contributing to a wide range of landmark projects across genres.

His credits include work with Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Adele, Jay-Z, Dixie Chicks, Linkin Park, Jake Bugg, Tommy Stinson, and many others.

Known for his calm presence, technical depth, and artist-first approach, Phillip has also played a key role in designing, installing, and operating temporary and unconventional studio environments, including high-profile residential recording setups.

Phillip’s work is defined by a focus on performance, emotional impact, and creating environments where artists can do their best work, whether in world-class studios or intimate, nontraditional spaces.

Engineering, Mixing, and Production Support

Phillip works across the full recording process, from hands-on tracking and session engineering to focused mixing and technical oversight. He is equally at home supporting an established producer’s vision or working directly with artists to capture performances with clarity and intent.

His approach prioritizes feel, flow, and trust in the room. Technical decisions are made in service of performance, not the other way around, allowing artists to stay present and work instinctively rather than overthinking the process.

Whether in a world-class studio, a custom-built space, or a home environment, Philip brings calm leadership, deep experience, and a long view of how records come together. The process stays efficient and human, and the final result sounds intentional, musical, and lived-in.
